Coulicam Revisited

Coulicam Revisited
St Saviour’s Church
Eton Road, Hampstead, NW3 4SU
Saturday 18th July at 6.30pm

As it was such a hit when we premiered it in April, Trio Aporia is giving a second performance of Duncan Druce’s evocative Coulicam Revisited. It was inspired by Rameau’s sound portrait La Coulicam, the opening movement of his Pièces de clavecin en concert, which in turn was probably inspired by the story of Thomas Khuli-Khan, a Persion Sufi, the hero of a fashionable French book published in 1728. Duncan explores the “otherness” suggested by Rameau in La Coulicam. True to the purpose of Aporia Coulicam Revisted takes us on a very different exploration of our instruments from anything written for us previously.
In addition to Coulicam Revisited we will be playing Pièces de Clavecin en Concert Nos. 1 & 4 by Rameau, Sonate No. 9 l’Inconnue by Michel De La Barre, Sonate pour flute e viole Op. 2 No. 8 by Leclair and La Rameau, La Leclair for viole by Jean Baptiste Antoine Forqueray.
